Future of

home.

To design the future of ‘home’

with innovative interactions and experiences

adapted to future needs.

Below image depicts a part of our initial user research. The goal was to understand what home meant to people in a wider demographic.

Some of the questions we sought answers to were based on the vision people have of what ‘home’ means to them, and what their vision for their home in the future looks like (image above left), and also to understand what area of ‘home’ they occupy the most, or consider very important in their daily life at home (image above left).

Additionally, as the figure below depicts we also wanted to get an idea of different spaces within homes that people associated with different emotions and activities.

We envisioned and designed the ecosystem for the future of home around three core principles : Share, Control and Provide.

These aspects were the base and shaped the different interactions and experiences in various parts of the ‘future of home’.

The products and services were based on several design drivers that were specifically chosen after analysing the trends and scenarios of the future of home.

We created an immersive experience that shows the different concepts in the setting they will be used. Above are images of some of the low-fidelity prototypes that were created to visualise the user journey and interactive possibilities. [ From left to right : 1) the ‘brain’ of the home : analyse and alert the user ; 2) ‘hands’ of the house : playful and sensory experience that lets the user control different functions within the house; 3) Smartile : A alarm system enabled floor tile to ensure safety of the occupants

This project was part of a partnership between Accenture and Besign School. As a co-team lead in a group of fifteen designers, I took different roles within the team : team management, organisation, user research, experience design, social design, storytelling and narration.
